    Default A Crunching Knee

I just finished my third week of a ten week bootcamp and kickboxing workout program. I've had a tender right knee since my days of sports, but I just noticed today that when I flex my left knee it has a really distinct crunching sound that is lasting and sustained. In other words, not just one "pop" but a sustained crunching sound all through the flex. Here's the kicker: the knee is not sore and I feel no pain in it at all.

Any ideas or things that I should watch for?

Arthritis eating the bone. Once your knee gets bone on bone you'll start having sharp stabbing pains all the time .After my neck surgery the knee surgeon wants to replace both my knees . Do NOT let it go too long or you'll end up like me-does it make a wet gravelly sound ?
You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

Man, I don't like the sound of THAT! I did a little reading online since and most of what I read suggested the same thing.

And, yes, it sounds almost exactly like wet gravel rubbing together. Yikes!

Did you ever find out what was going on with your knee, Ban?

    How is your bootcamp going?
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

I never have found out what was/is wrong with my knee. The weird crunching sound is gone, but the persistent pain is still there. However, I have stopped running for a while, so that should help matters.

I had to end the bootcamp after six weeks, actually! I tweaked my back, but was back at it only after a few days, and in week 6, I pulled a calf muscle, which ended my bootcamp all together. I started working out at home-doing intensive videos-at about week 8, and have stuck with that since. The calf is healed, but sometimes tender, and these workouts are not stressing it in any way.

I hated quitting the bootcamp, as I LOVED the kickboxing part. Being a former boxer, it was fun to be able to work bags again.

Anyway, thanks for asking. I am doing better and keeping in shape.
