Well... feel like shit today. The day before I was struck with food poisioning, up till 3 a.m throwing up and on all fours. I woke up and my stomach was empty and I was extremely light headed. The pain went away for the most part after lunch, though the dizziness still remains, albiet light. Decided to workout anyways. Did Workout A instead of workout B because my brother started working out w/me, and I'm feelin bad so this is more of a recovery week.

    3/22/10
    Monday:
3x5 175lb Squat (tad too light)
3x5 140lb Bench Press (spotter assisstance for last 2 reps of last 2 sets)
1x5 225lb Deadlift (couldn't finish last rep, couldn't fully lock out 4th rep)

So here's the thing. Because I was recovering from sickness I wasn't sure what weight I should use. The Squats ended up a tad too light, the Bench Press was surprisingly difficult, I had to be helped the last 2 reps on the last 2 sets, and I could only manage 4 unbroken deadlifts, one rep of which my legs didn't lock out. Hoping to recover by Wendsday so I can get started again. Just another obstacle.

Mental toughness is to physical as four is to one.

Gym closed down for 1 week or so. Just busting out weighted pullups at home now @ 3x5 plus some plyometrics.

Hey I noticed you said your bench press was surprisingly difficult when you moved up to 140 lbs. I noticed you jumped from 125 to 140. In starting strength he says you should probably be making 5 lb a week jumps in weight for bench. Smaller steps that you can sustain are better than making a big jump and then stalling too soon.

A 15 lb jump on bench might have been too much unless the 125 was way too easy.

It was difficult mostly because that day I was recovering from food poisoning. My gym closed down last week so today was the first day since then, I decided to use the same weights I left off with this week just to get back in the swing of things. Surprised that the weight was way too light. Which brings me to my monday workout.

    Monday:
    3x5 175lb Squat
    3x5 140lb Bench Press
    1x5 225 Deadlift

What was especially amazing was the deadlift. I breezed through it with ease. Looks like I'll increase the weight alot next week.

Been a few days since posted, I have been working out but have not been posting in the log. For starters, I changed my style of squating. I used to JUST go to 90 degrees but now I am doing the Rippetoe recommendation of ass-to-grass squats, breaking 90 degrees. I was super sick AGAIN for most of the last few days so I haven't been increasing weights too much.

Been too long since I posted... again haha. Been very busy working on some Greco stuff, payed off though, I maanaged to place 1st in Greco at the tournament today. Anyways, not going to bother posting the old workouts, Friday's will have to due.

My squats: I've recently changed up the way I do squats. Instead of just going to a parallel 90 degrees I've decided to perform "ass-to-grass" squats, so I lowered the weights beggining last week to perform higher quality squats.

    Friday:
    3x5 165lb Squat
    3x5 145lb Bench Press

Man... the military presses aren't getting any easier... the powercleans are though.
