Default working out on an empty stomach

Any of you done this before?? I just did, today in fact. being the idiot that I was I decided to workout on an empty stomach, all was good until I was 3/4 of the way done, then my stomach started burning. It felt hollow, I knew my muscles werent sore, but I couldnt go any further. It was a bad feeling.

Don't be an idiot, eat an hour or so before a workout XD

Same, I'll either eat a full meal then go workout like 3 hours later, or eat something small just before I get in.

it was recommended to me to work out on an empty stomach, but I usually have a small snack beforehand.

Workout on an empty stomach only if you're taking L-glutamine as a muscle recovery supplement because it competes with other amino acids for absorbtion. Some yogurt or other dairy with high protein and maybe a banana with peanut butter are good 30 min before a workout. Also, remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day and especially during your workout. Your stomach problems may have been caused by dehydration.

I had plenty of water. I didn't eat anything for nearly 3 hours and I suppose that was the cause of my stomach pains.

Preworkout meals should accomplish 2 things:

1. Stabilize the Blood-Sugar Level
2. Replenish Muscle Glycogen storage

Before strength training you might want to have something simple such as an Apple and a scoop of Whey Protein in water. This will stabilize your blood sugar level without causing an unnecessary rise in blood sugar, which then forces your Pancreas to secrete Insulin as a response. The Insulin response interferes with the workout and ultimately forces your body to store more fat.

If you train first thing in the morning you need to have your preworkout meal not only for blood sugar stabilization but also to replenish glycogen (glucose converted to glycogen for muscle energy) first. This helps halt the catabolic process (muscular breakdown) that occurs when you train. Catabolism will continue until you reverse it with proper nutrition... and is essential first thing in the morning after a full night of sleep/fasting.

I wrestled/worked out on an empty stomach some of the time during freestyle. It never bothered me too much, but it did kind of burn. It wasn't too bad and I never really noticed it until after practice. I always like having an apple and some yogurt before I hit the weights or wrestle. Anything light and fresh, like most fruits and veggies. I usually eat protein after.
