    Default Healing a hurt neck?

    Here's the short story.
About 30 minutes into practice I had a double leg and started driving. Well my head was down and I smashed my head into the wall. Hard.
I just felt some really bad cracks in my neck and took a breather for about five minutes.
I practiced after that and finished up but I wasn't the same.
After practice I was in a lot of pain and so when I got home I took some pain killers. They didn't work! So I picked up an ice pack and tried that. Didn't work! So I slept hoping that time would heal it. It didn't. Still went to practice that day and that was Friday. Today is Saturday and it still hurts and I don't know what to do. It doesn't hurt to the point where I can't wrestle its just really uncomfortable and when I'm not wrestling it bothers me more. What can I do to fix this? Is it a time thing?
I'm not being a baby about it obviously. It would help if I got it fixed!

    Thanks for the advice coming!

Does it hurt when you move your neck side to side? Does it feel like the pain is coming from a specific area of your neck? If so than where?

Yea when I tilt my head left to right. It hurts in the back left part of my neck. and that's it.

It sounds like you have a stiff neck, I've got that before.

Yea, exactly what I had before even on the left part too haha. You just strained your left muscle of your neck that has to do with your motion of your neck. It is only a stiff neck, it will go away in 3-4 days. Just move it little by little every time and make sure you don't let it stiffen up. Also you can order some prescriptions that loosen up your muscles, they work well.

DON'T put ice on it! It stiffens it up more! Take hot showers and put heat pads on your neck or a hot wet towel or something. Try to keep your neck elevated while your sleeping. And remember, always move it.

Keep going to wrestling practice the heat loosens up your neck muscles and all the motion that goes on also loosens it up.

On the odd chance that you don't notice any changes in 4 days or so go to the doctor it COULD be more than a strained muscle.

Do you get a pain on your bone or your muscle? Do you get the most pain when you tilt (keyword tilt) it left or right rather than moving it to the left or right side? How long have you got this?

Thanks for the advice! I will put a hot towel on it when I'm done posting this I hurt it on Thursday and it is now Sunday. So that is four days and its still hurting. And it definitely hurts when I tilt it to the left. And for everyone saying go to the doctor. I don't have the time and don't want to waste the money if nothing is really wrong with me. That's a waste of my time, his time, and my money.

Best go to the doctor. I know going to the doctor sucks, but you might have sprained/fractured your neck..

Seriously, go to the doctor. That really isn't something I would mess with and you should stop practicing immediately.

I would still go to the doctor since there was an impact involved, not just as simple as torqueing the neck. I have had those as well but when an impact is involved, he should consider also getting check for spine, neck etc.
