By your own admission you don't even know when your own wrestling season ends.

If you don't know that, you probably shouldn't be attempting to diagnose neck injuries.

How do you come to the conclusion that if I don't know when the wrestling season ends than I shouldn't make a good intentional diagnose?

You're not wasting the doctor's time by going to see him. It's his (or her) job to diagnose injury and illness. You're not wasting your own time by going to a doctor; spinal injuries can lead to paralysis and death. Death (or long term injury) are worse than paying money or missing wrestling practice.

get an x ray at a walk in clinic at least. unless you don't mind being paralyzed fom the neck down. then assuming no fractures, etc. give it a few days of complete rest, those neck braces from the farmacy would be a good idea and cheap too. you not messing with a knee or shoulder here, it's your central nervous system!
but then again, i may be retarded

Ok here's the deal. I talked to the trainer and she said that it's probably just a bruised muscle. And it's really not hurting that bad anymore just when I tilt it and I don't feel much pain. We have an over night tournament coming up on Friday and Saturday. If I'm hurting after that I will go see a doctor. FOR REAL! I will talk to my coach and tell him what's up. If I was in a lot of pain I would go now but it seems to be feeling better

i think part of the reason there was a giant doctor push was that you description of the injury was so...crunchy

It sounds like a pinched nerve and a muscle strain. If the pain hasn't increased after you have returned to practice you're probably in the clear this time, but *always* see a trainer and explain the issue. Some of us have likely seen similar injuries in the past, but you can't rely on an online community to diagnose your injury.

In the future use this procedure:

    1) Explain the injury to your coach
    2) Explain your injury to your trainer
    3) If either advise you to see a doctor, see a doctor.

Insurance or not, a free clinic or $300 bill are better than being paralyzed for the rest of your life.
