    Default How to beat a guy who is Stronger and better than you?

    in my 5th match this year i wrestled this guy at 130s and i didnt drop any weight to get there and he droped from probly around 140s he was around 5"5 and im 5"11 well it turns out he destroyed me after 3 rounds and i really couldent do anything he was in control the whole time and but me on my back about 3 times i got 2 escapes and 1 takedown but then he escaped and got a take down and then sat on me for a while and he won 16-4

    First of all, rounds are in boxing. Wrestling has periods.

    A stronger opponent is no problem. In six years of high school and college competition I rarely wrestled opponents weaker than me and I always had a winning season. One important factor is conditionning. If you are in better shape than your opponent, his muscles won't do him much good when you keep up the pace and he runs out of gas. Also, if you learn to use your leverage (at 5'11" and 130), you will neutralize any strength advantage that your opponent has.

    As far as a "better" opponent, if you perfect your moves and counters and drill them until they are unstoppable, you'll be able to compete with anyone.

    thanks the only problem i had is he was real quick on his shots and so it was hard for me to sprawl

    Start mastering the cradle. Learn as many set ups and finishes as you can. A guy your length with a mastery of just the cradle (and decent shot defense), has the ability to really beat a lot of guys thought to be better all around wrestlers.

    yeah i have real good quik sprawls thats how i got my take down he got me down once cause i threw in a wizzer when he hit a single and he cranked me to the mat the take downs i useually use are from the tie up like a couple 2 on 1 set ups i do arm spins everyonce and while and Over Under Throws and leg trips but he started doing outside singles i know how to stop them but he was so quick with them he would take me down in a flash

    Long Legs = Spladle-fest
    5 point takedown reversal, a pin if you're lucky. They're are hard to hit on anybody who's somewhat decent unless you have them down really good.
    A kid on my team went to states with almost all his wins by near fall points from spladles xD

    if youu can get a good sprawl on him when he shoots in then work on short offense, moves like the cement job (cement mixer). Also the spladle like the guest said but just make sure you really have it down and dont rely on certain moves too much. Another thing is the cradle like shlottke said, but i actually have a major beaf aggainst the cradle because when people that do it well always look for it wayy to much when it is a move that you should only do when they give it to you, not one you search for. The last thing is throwing legs is a great way to completely shut a person down, and i like to use tilts to get the leg in. You just do a cheap tilt or somthing then once he starts to get free lay him down on your leg, this makes it easier to slip it in.
