Thread: Conference breakdown (in progress)

  1. #1

    Default Conference breakdown (in progress)

All conference rankings are taken directly from TOM's latest rankings. I used them because they are closer to what the seedings will be than other ranking services. Placing points are tabulated on a reverse order. A #1 conference ranking receives 10 points, #2 receives 9 points and so on. The bonus points are taken from our leagues rules thread. I don't want to do research for others so I will wait until they post their lineups to analyze their teams.

Default Re: Conference breakdown (in progress)

So I started on this little project of predicting conference week. I tried to be objective and offer mostly best case scenarios for wrestlers including bonus points (which I was very liberal with) to help simulate real tournament scoring, but I also threw in some predictions. This should help get some discussion started since we have a whole week of no wrestling.
I have to say that I had no idea what I was getting myself into because it started quick and easy as I started with the small conferences first and finished with the BIG TEN. The Big Ten is a crap shoot at a lot of weights.
I did all the guys from one conference on all the teams first and just kept going through all the guys from the next conference so I had no idea how anyone's scores would turn out. (Sorry to Skutter and David as I didn't initially start yours since you are pretty much locks for post-season and I don't want to do another 22 wrestlers).
I sure hope I am wrong A LOT because I will be on the outside looking in if I am right but many of them should be pretty close as you can start to figure out how each bracket will turn out if you know the seeds (especially the small ones) and then you look back at previous results.
