Thread: Robbery!

Now I guess being a high school coach I am not 100% with college rules, but Dake had NO control over Taylor on the reversal when they went out of bounds. I find it hard to believe that Dake could be awarded 2 when both wrestlers are in the air and land out of bounds... Like I said before, I have no preference (I am a Purdue fan), but as a fan of great wrestling I simply cannot see how Dake was awarded the reversal...

You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

Can't tell from the video if Dakes hands are locked on the leg. I'd assume they were, and if they were, it was a good call. that reversal call was super quick for that position, but Taylor did roll out of bounds because he knew he was in trouble.

At best Thax-Give Dake one escape and put them neutral with Taylor having 1 1/2 minutes RT. Yet although Taylor was in trouble where exactly did Dake gain control in bounds ?

Dake never had offensive control on the mat. Dake initiated the roll and did not finish with any part of the body within the vertical plane of the cylinder. Bad call.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Dake had him locked in the Merkle position. Behind both shoulders and a leg in, and Taylor was still in bounds. It was a good call.

ETA: Not only that, but even if you don't want to give Dake the standing reversal, Taylor puts his hand down while his foot is still in bounds.

No clue what the correct call would be, but that standing kick-flip sure looked cool. Reminded me of the McIlravy/Igali Olympic match.

In terms of the escape, it looked to me that Dake didn't have both hands locked together while Taylor was sprawling, right at the end. Again, I'm not sure what the rules are exactly on when an escape is awarded.

Philosophically, it seems like in folkstyle wrestling with it's emphasis on control, the benefit of the doubt should usually go to "no points being scored". Contrast this with freestyle wrestling, where they hand out points like candy.

i am not on either side here, i could see 1 escape or 2 reversal. The thing is that the call was so quick, they should have consulted each other like they did at the end of the match. I mean there are 3 of em for a reason. it was a tough call to make, and they saw 2. At least its not freestyle
