    Post Ursinus Preview D3 Wrestling

In 2007, Ursinus won their fifth consecutive Centennial title and Head Coach Bill Racich picked up his 400th career win. That they managed to win the conference with no champions shows their depth, but also shows where the team would like to improve their number of national qualifiers. Their lone qualifier (Kingsland) returns, though he will be up at 133, perhaps switching weight classes with Trevor Beard, a former F&M transfer. Mike Schwager, who placed 12th in all of the NCAA with 19 falls, returns at 165. New additions include Delaware runner-up Matt Turtle and coaches Maldwyn Cooper (former Canadian World Team Member) and Pat North (2x All-American at RIT).

    Brother Schlottke,
New assistant coach Maldwyn Cooper is also a 3rd or 4th degree black belt in judo. Expect to see some Ursinus kids hitting footsweeps and arm throws this year. Maldwyn is an excellent coach, and really helped my son progress in judo, in spite of the fact that Desmond beat Maldwyns son in the finals of the PA state judo championships a couple of years ago :-) ! Class act and a great addition to Ursinus.
btw - Ursinus also got a tough freshman from Chestnut Hill Academy - Malcomb Taylor. Malcomb just missed AA status @ 152 in the national Prep championships last year. Tough, smart, hard-working kid.
