Terrible stories in the article. One thing jumped out at me though is this:

The result is that Ms. Safia, a 25-year-old mother of five, has not eaten in a week. Her 1-year-old son is starving too, an adorable, listless boy who doesn’t even respond to a pinch.

A 25 year old has 5 children. "Ms" means she is not married. Heck a single mother of 5 children would probably be starving in America as well. How the hell do you give birth to 5 children when you have nothing to eat?
