My store is in Fort Collins and whether they like it or not I have some employees putting up christmas decorations as we speak.

Ugly, you're the one claiming offense over the story, not me. But maybe you didn't comprehend my post. And maybe you didn't read the stories I posted. You seem to have less interest in considering the issues, and more in just being pissed off. It's you against the world. The good citizens of Ft. Collins are out there just waiting to DESTROY your existence by even thinking about not putting up a Christmas tree. Go ahead, get mad. Get really, really mad. And remember, OReilly will never lie to you or pull on your chain. After all, he has his own TV show (something I will never have), and he wears a suit.

The incident in Ft. Collins has nothing whatsoever to do with people putting up Christmas decorations in stores, unless you have some new facts to share with us since you're connected with the community.

Ugly, I don't think you were referring to me, but to clarify at any rate, offended probably isn't the right word to use here. I don't take offense at, for instance, a nativity scene in the public square paid for with my tax money, because I know that it wasn't intended to disrespect me or my beliefs. It was intended to celebrate a holiday observed by a majority of the population. I simply feel it is unfair and improper for public funds to be spent in connection with any religion or religious observance. Basically, religion should be kept out of government. I'm not trying to reopen the discussion of laws having their origins in religious systems, or of legislators voting their religiously influenced conscience. I'm just saying that blatant endorsement of any religious belief by government (local, state or federal) is improper. And I agree that we have much bigger problems than Christmas decorations.

Spider, I wasn't referring to you because I didn't think you were offended.

Clone, I am not offended, I am baffled at what people get offended by and what they try to limit or delete from our society because it doesn't represent their specific views on life. We are getting to the point where no one will be able to express themselves if it goes against what the PC police deem acceptable. This is a crazy issue to expend your energy on when these people could be doing so much more. These people instead of trying to silence everything religious should get involved in their community in a positive way supporting something that actually makes a difference rather than wasting time on this.

Just so we are clear I am not a fan of Bill Oreilly

Ask any store owner, even your favorite anti Christian store, and see how much it would hurt them to do away with the Christmas Shopping season?

Very true.....when I used to manage retail stores we would do somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of our yearly gross business in a six week period between Thanksgiving and New Years. That was true for all but one store I managed. It was an exercise equipment store, so it's big season was right after New Years when everyone was buying equipment to help with their new years resolution to get in shape.

We live in the land of the free. That freedom was paid for by the PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES. WE THE PEOPLE are slowly letting the goverment control our daily living.
As the rights of the PEOPLE began to diminish so will our FREEDOM.
If WE THE PEOPLE do not take a stand, we shall be controlled by the opinions and beliefs of those in POWER.
Why do we have homeless in the UNITED STATES but can fund for the people of forien countries to come here and WE THE PEOPLE pay for their edgucation.
Christmas and any other holiday should be the choice of the person renting our owning the establishment. Does a landlord tell you what you can or cannot celabrate? To my knowledge, NOT IN THE UNITED STATES. As far as our taxes paying for these things, no that is not what taxes are for. But then again do you have any clue what our goverment is doing with the taxes? Shouldn't we have a list or something to show us where they put our money? What a blackwhole that was created to keep us out of control, so no longer shall we the people know.

Look at history -- the British government thought it had 13 colonies in North America in the 1700s, but those colonies did not want to grant that government permission to govern them, so they got rid of it.

Rest assured, the government only exists with OUR permission.
