What if they have no power or ability to get rid of insurgents? Women, children, and elders can't oppose lots of men with guns.

What if insurgents are fighting because they hate American invasion and meddling in their towns and changing their ways of life?

These are legitimate reasons for people related to them to go and blow up Westerners seeking revenge if their relatives are oppressed and killed by Americans.

In WWII German troops occupied many Soviet villages. Villagers provided food and shelter for them. Does that mean all those villagers deserved to die? They had no other choice. They would be killed if they resisted.

If you ask me, there was nothing rational, in any sense, about bombing Bagdhad either.
I am in total agreement with your reply.

49 countries from around the world backed and /or participated in the Iraq invasion.

Who supports the type of acts that these people were trying to pull off in London??

I posted this on a different site a short while ago. It fits right into this thread.

The cilivian population in Iraq is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Take a minute and put your self in the shoes of the average Iraqi. It is never safe there, never. Between all of the different factions that are killing each other, the military forces, the non Iraqi terrorists, the different religious groups, the ever changing tribal loyalties, and any one else with a weapon and an ax to grind, who do you align with? How do you keep your loved ones safe? I could not imagine being a father over there living in fear day after day. Do you hunker down and hide? Do you fight? If so then who do you fight? Do you flee? Can you flee?

As justly outraged as we were in the aftermath of 9/11 try and compare it to the outrage that the average Iraqi must feel. In a country of over 300 million people we lost 3,000 on that faitful day. In just over four years in a country of only 26 million people they have lost over 67,000 cilivians. These are not terrorist, military, or insurgent deaths but cilivian deaths. If we continue to have trouble coming to grips with our losses think about how mind boggling the civilian losses have been there. I am saddened by the fact that our leaders have no viable solutions except to do the same thing again tomorrow and the next day and the next day.

    Big,
You routinely rail against religion on this board.

But when terrorists kill for no other reason other than their religion beliefs, you defend them.

You can't play it both ways.

Terrorists kill because Americans want Arab countries to adopt American rules and for no other reason. As long as America tells other countries how to treat their women, how to choose their leaders and so on, you will see terrorism.

Last thing Arabs want is America tell them to give their women equal rights. It is not so in their culture and America should not interfere. I don't agree with their rules but I will respect them.

You want to give their women equal rights and at the same time give them high divorce rates, pornographic materials, sex movies, and so on. They can't accept all this baggage.

They do (did) have a solution.

They tried to establish and elected government made up of the three different groups. They tried to establish a police force to keep the peace.

However, a MINORITY of extremist sabotaged this process.

A great many of Iraqis fled to safer places.

The extremists are doing there best to cause chaos, and it is basically working.

The only people that would support terrorist bombing innocents are others who have gone over the deep end. No rational person would condone it.
