Seems like a worth while goal to me, but 10 years is pretty agressive time frame.

I think it's good that he pushes a deadline that is just ten years out. Normally we would expect the government (or members of) to say, "by 2038" or something way out there... 10 years gives you the ability to see change actually happen.

Dirty electricity would be electricity where pollution is a by product of the electricity generation (e.g. coal).

It's not going to happen but I appreciate that he has a goal attached. It's easy to hit it if you're shooting at nothing.

I think having cleaner energy would be great and eventually we will get there.

I didn't see the speech or read it but I would have the following questions:

How does he suggest we accomplish this?
How much is it going to cost?
How much will it affect the workers of this country?

That is just a few of the questions I would have. If anyone know if he answered those please let me know.

Cost is a relative term here..... it might "cost" somebody something but on the otherhand somebody will be "making" something as well.

How much will it affect the workers of this country?

Some positively; new jobs because a new industry is sprouting up, and some negatively; like those who are working in the 'dirty' electricity companies.

I just got my electric bill today. I believe our utility company is currently mandated by the State to have 10% of the total production through renewable sources by 2020. That may inject a little reality into the equation. I'm all for a move in that direction but it will take radical moves to even put a dent in situation in the next ten years.
