Very valid interpertation, the Bible uses many types of literary devices to make it's point, one is foreshadowing. The Ark is a foreshadowing device, it foreshadows the Ark of the Covenant and Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant. All carried within them the means of salvation. The first, the salvation of a family, the second, the salvation of a tribe, the third, the salvation of the world.
