    Can you say "landslide"?
four short years ago, there was a lanslide victory when Bush beat the pants off of the paper hero. How did that turn out for Bush again?

People were voting against Bush as much as they were voting FOR Obama. Times are hard, the bubbles that were supporting our economy burst, and Obama was very opportunistic in his timing. Not to mention the pass that Obama is getting from the Media. His telepromter debacle was barely aired and the Air Force 1 fly over isn't meeting the outrage that it should....can you all imagine how HUGE this story would have been if it had been done under the Bush administration? Chris Mathews would need an Oxygen mask and Keith Olberman's pants would be man-glued to his stomach.

I'm detecting a little anger in that post, Badcat, what with the "liberal media" screwing over the Republicans.

That clever little trick is staring to wear out, too though. Crying about the "liberal media" just so right-wingers can shift the so-called center further to the right. But it does work with the ignorant, that's for sure.

The tide will change, it always does. Look what happened after Carter. The republican party is suffering right now because of the current circumstances not because of their beliefs. If Obama fails then the republicans will regain control of the white house and maybe congress. This also might be the last time we see a majority like this in the congress coupled with the white house. The Dems have everything working for them right now. The only way they can go is down. They need to fix all of the problems they can with their majority. If they dont here comes the GOP in 2012 or 2016.

In my experience the people who claim to be Dem or liberal are far more angry and hateful than the conservatives. I never understood why someone who was opposed to the war would want to physically fight someone who supported the war.

Telling the truth is wearing out. I showed a study on another thread where even a majority of dems feel the TV and print media lean to the left. Minus fox which leans right but not nearly as right as the others lean left.

I didn't see this - do you remember what thread it was on?
I am very skeptical of this and I'm suspecting it might have come from a think tank.

This is pure poppycock. Whenever you frame things as us vs. them and say that they do all the "bad" things and we don't, you lose credibility.
I'm pretty liberal and I'll be the first to admit there are whacked out liberals that are angry and do dumb things. They are called extremists.....and BOTH sides have plenty of them.

A moderate liberal and a moderate conservative probably have more common ground than they do with the extremists from their side of the political spectrum.

The Republicans need something to offer to replace the Democrats, even if they do fail. As of now they not only don't have anything and; a majority of people believe our current circumstances (which are really bad) are in part due to the Republicans being in power.

By marginalizing themselves by the chasing of the moderates, by not seeming to want people of race, as well as only gaining support in the south, while coming close to losing both costs now, is only pushing them back further are a marginalyzed party. People like me aren't going to go back for voting for them regularly unless they come up with something that looks like solutions for a range of problems.

From a more practical standpoint they just lost Pennsylvania for the next 8 years because Toomey is way to conservative for Pennsylvania. That part of the country no longer votes for very conservatives in statewide elections.
I am 49, bald, ugly, and don't own a single cool thing. Kids like me though.
