BnR it isnt like the pentagon is getting the money. They just havent been held accountable so there are no reprocautions for their lack of fiscal control.

I believe that my idea would work wonders to clean up the overages. It would nearly eliminate all cost overuns and missed dead lines. The congress needs a few more billion to ear mark anywway. Like I said what defense contractor can afford to eat all overages plus penalties?

That's where you're wrong. The generals that are the top of the chain of command at the Pentagon. They are the ones making request for more planes, more missiles, more nuclear tanks. There is a reason they're doing that. If the Pentagon procures some large contracts from Boeing, GE, guess what those generals do when they retire from the military?
They end up getting hired at Boeing and GE to serve on their board of directors. Now as a corporate executive, they wine-n-dine the same military brass they used to command. The big defense contractors are willing to pay these retired generals big money because they have the inside pull to secure future multi-million dollar contracts.

The Pentagon brass goes along with it because, hey, you gotta make sure our military is fully equipped with the best weapons our money can buy.......and eventually, when they retire, they'll be looking at a big payday working for those big defense contractors as well.
Your ignorance is painful to witness.....

Okay so it isn't just the greedy business men but the greedy corrupt generals leading our military. Wow this is getting better and better. I am starting to get this feeling that you are not a big fan of our military.

Does saying I'm against wasteful spending by the military mean I don't want to have the strongest military in the world?

Oh wait, I forgot who I was talking to. Let me explain it real S-L-O-W. I want our military to have the best weapons and to be the most advanced army in the world. However, when defense contractors defraud the government about their weapons systems and American soldiers actually die because something doesn't work the way it was supposed to work (helicopters, for example), am I supposed to think that is a good thing?

Before you try changing the topic, what exactly is your response to John McCain exposing that shady deal with Boeing?

What helicopters are you talking about?

I think you and Chance want the same thing you just have different levels of acceptability to the waste. Chance is saying that if the weapons are the best and our soldiers are better because of it then the overage is not as bad as you think. He also sees that their is a lot of government spending that is wasteful that you are not assumably nearly as upset about. If there is going to be waste in defense is where Chance thinks it should be. I see his point

You want to have the equipment and eliminate the overage. If there was a good way to do this then we all agree it would be a good thing. I thik my plan would work. I see your point.

Read the John McCain link and stop telling me about your clever little plan to eliminate wasteful defense spending. I'm sorry - I'm just not real confident that some guy on an internet messageboard has got this really ingenious way to solve a pervasive problem regarding wasteful spending by the federal government.....

Then please find a reason why the plan would not work? Don't come back with "no one will enforce it" because then you are saying there is no possible way to curtail the waste.

Second are you saying that the folks here aren't smart. There are Dentists, Doctors, Teachers, Lawyers and other educated people on this site. We have the ability to think critically and present ideas. You seem to think your pretty smart and yet here you are on a message board, promoting your ideas and intellect. My ideas isn't really mine I didnt create it, I borrowed it and it works in the real world. I have been apart of companies that have to meet deadlines and budgets or face back charges and eating the overage costs. Trust me no one is going to take a million dollar hit because of tardiness and no one is willing to eat these cost overruns.
