Default Another bull article by NYTimes

The guy won an Olympic Gold, he is set for life and his family is taken cared of. He is tired of training and that is portrayed by NYTimes as a crime. give me a break. He is the son of peasants in China. Those families live in extreme poverty over there.

He is 24 years old. He can retire this year with a pension for life and money from his winnings and start studying all he wants. He is a National hero!

Really. The NYT is a piece of biased, agenda driven propaganda. Whenever I read a NYT article I always consider the source.

Big, you should really read the articles you post. The guy just wants to do his own thing. He wants to learn, and go to other countries, but the government forces him to train, then they want them to coach. How is that set for life? Money isn't everything, if you don't enjoy what you are doing.

If you find a job you love, you will never have to work another day in your life. Find a job you hate, and be miserable.

Good ole' Marxist Big, still at it.

And yet what do most Olympic medalists in wrestling do in America? They coach. Please, they found some poor sap and wrote an article about it. There is no substance here as to the bigger picture.

Actually, the NYT is not criticizing the athlete at all. It's the opposite, they are criticizing the national government for forcing him to compete. Here are Yang's own words:

I do not want to work as an athlete, but as an athlete here I have no freedom to choose my future,” Yang said, speaking through the team’s official interpreter. “As a child, I didn’t learn anything but sport, and now what do I do? I can’t do anything else. I have my own dreams, but it is very difficult. I don’t have the foundation to make them come true.”
This article underscores the whole controversy about the olympics being held in China, a nation who's policies in many ways contradict the "Olympic Spirit".

It doesn't contradict anything. It is typical American bull$hit! Oh he doesn't have the freedom because of the government. My azz! Lets take Cael Sanderson. Did he receive a pension from the government? No. Did he receive a lot of money for his Gold medal from the government? No. Did his family members get outstanding jobs because of his Gold medal. No again! What is Cael Sanderson doing? He is coaching!

What is John Smith doing? Coaching. what was Baumgartner doing? Coaching. What was Gable doing? Coaching.

Perhaps Chinese government realized capitalist Gold medal winners coach so their guy should coach also.

The difference is that our guys coach by choice. It is their lifes passion. I am sure that they could have succeded at whatever career path they chose to persue but the key word here is choice. A very powerful five letters Big. Millions have given their all to defend it and billions aroiund the world would give anything to come here and enjoy that most fundamental of all rights.

If China were like America, this guy would CHOOSE coaching. Its nothing more than blowing hot air for me.

Here is a powerful message for you all: China did not imprison this guy. He and his parents had a choice to quit his athletic career at any time.

I lived under a similar system in Soviet Union. My coach asked me if I wanted to go to a sports school and mainly wrestle or if I wanted to keep training at the club 3-4 times per week. I chose to stay at the club so that I could get a real education. I had a choice as did this guy. The article is worthless.
