Yes, there seems to be some debate as to what is making the earth's climate warmer. The fact that it is getting warmer is disputed by no one, it's what's causing it is where the debate lies.

OK, let's assume that it is not our lifestyle that is contributing to it or causing it; it is a perfectly naturally occuring cyclical phenomenon of heating and cooling. Now, let's say that we assume that it is our way of living that has been causing it and we end up being wrong in this assumption, what harm has been done in taking preventative measures to stop or prevent it?

For the life of me, I cannot understand why we wouldn't want to take measures to prevent it, if we are even potentially responsible.

So why dont you believe in God just in case he exists that way you havent lost anything if you are wrong and gained everything if you are right.

Because a person can't choose what they believe in. Someone might want to believe in God, or aliens, or the easter bunny, but wanting to believe something doesn't actually make the person believe it.

Sure it does. If I say believe or do not believe in something then that is what I mean and what I believe. Plus if you believe in Global warming caused by humans just because it might be and maybe if you are right you could possibly make a difference what kind of crap is that.

Please Clone there is scientific evidence to the opposite also. Like I said before people are talking climate change now, not global warming. Lets talk about record cold fronts this year, that sounds like global warming to me or the fact that certain ice shelves are expanding after they receded in the spring time (like they do every year. But they are growing when the reform from the previous years and not shrinking again that sounds just like global warming.

Even so the argument is absurd

I agree with FloggingSully. You can't just tell yourself you believe something and that would make it so that you do believe it. It's like love. You may want to love someone, but you can't force yourself to love them unless you naturally do. I'd LOVE to believe that I'm going to meet my lost loved ones after I die, but I just don't believe it. If I were proven wrong, I'd be very, very happy.
