I guess we could go back and forth about the relevance of this particular issue, but I think it brings to light some of the stuff that goes on "behind the scenes" at political campaigns. I'll have to go back and find the article, but there was another story about the Obama campaign telling an Asian college student that she couldn't be seated within sight of Obama during his speech at ther school and that they needed more whites to be seated within sight of Barack, so she wouldn't be in the pictures.
Then, this deal about the muslim women comes out in which staffers wouldn't let them sit behind Obama so they wouldn't be in the pictures.
I can't say for sure that Obama has a monopoly on this sort of thing, but this is the only time its been documented in the national media. If Obam ais supposed to be the candidate of change that he says he is and if he is supposed to be respective of and even embrace racial differences, why is his campaign so worried about the skin color of those who are in pictures with him?
Like I said, it may just be a campaign thing, but I certainly don't think its a good one. I can only imagine the outrage in the media if McCain's campaign excluded an Asian student so they could get more whites in the picture. What I also think this shows us is that those from the Obama campaign can't see past skin color and their own prejudices.
