Riiight. I've studied the issue, Chance. My assessment that the crowd is filled with bigots and liars is not casual but informed. In my opinion, there is a not a bigger group of liars anywhere, and there is a direct correlation between someone's level of hatred and their willingness to tell a lie.
- the issue is purely opinions whether or not you are for illigal immigration.
How many of these people do you know personally? How are they bigots and liars?
I peronally think it is a joke that people on the left bring up because we don't agree with them.
Answer this for me Clone:
If someone has no issue with race, looks at the person not the gender or skin color, is for making immigration easier and cheaper but is against people coming here illegally. How is this person a racist/bigot or a liar?
Answer that one question I would love to hear it.
Turn on talk radio. That is what they are telling you even if you don't recognize it. That's what Big is telling us, even if you don't recognize it.
How does talk radio preach hate? How do they tell us this? If i don't recognize it please point it out.
If you don't understand that talk radio talks hate, there's probably not much I can say, that I haven't said already, that will change your mind.
However, I will attempt to answer your question loaded with presumptions that beg a certain answer (a common technique used on talk radio):
If someone has no issue with race, looks at the person not the gender or skin color, is for making immigration easier and cheaper but is against people coming here illegally. How is this person a racist/bigot or a liar?
First, you have to know what bigotry and racism (I note that you keep bringing up this term although I haven't), are. You have to know what a lie is. Your question contains a pre-determined answer that your hypothetical person is not a racist.
Second, your person has to say or do something that matches these meanings. Taking a restrictionist position on immigration alone doesn't make anyone is a bigot, racist, or liar. But knowingly arguing from a place where bigots and racists argue, makes one arguably the same--and misrepresenting or fabricating information in furtherance of one's position makes one a liar. It's not that difficult.
Finally, I'm sure there are many honorable, well-meaning people who have concerns about immigration. They may be more or less informed. But to not understand that the immigration issue is an umbrella for those who trade in racism, bigotry, and lies, is to suggest that one doesn't know much about American society or American history.

I am sorry but i do not follow your arguement as it dosn't make sense to me.
The last thing I am going to say about Illegal immigration is that it has nothing to do with race. There are illegals from Europe and Asia also. It has to do with the fact that they are Illegal!!!
Trying to say it is racist to go against it or you are a bigot and/or liar is a scare tactic used by the left. Either you agree with us or we will label you are a racist/bigot/liar.
In regards to talk radio are their hate filled messages on a variety of subjects including gay marriages. How many times have you listened to Rush, Sean, Savage, and other local talk show hosts. Have you actually listed to whole programs or just read about them.
Getting back "somewhat" to the subject of the thread. How is a talk show host or a person on the street saying they are against gay marriage talking hate? Is he saying the gay people are evil...no they are against gay marriage and they have the right to say that.
I personally disagree with them on that (see i do lean left on occassion).
"Trying to say it is racist to go against it or you are a bigot and/or liar is a scare tactic used by the left. Either you agree with us or we will label you are a racist/bigot/liar."
This is why honest dialogue on some subjects is almost impossible.
Seriously, guys, this thread is about calling Big a moron. Start another immigration thread to keep saying the same things again and again to each other.

I think you're hearing voices in your head. (again)

Yes, it's very difficult to have a dialogue when the issue is constantly framed in black and white terms, b/c as Chance tells us, you're one point of view or another. In that case, we will always stand on one side of the line or the other, throwing stones, and nothing of substance will be discussed. In the real world, not the world of talk radio, adults do have substantive dialogues about issues in which people can reasonably disagree. But they typically are marked by the intention of coming to some sort of agreement or consensus. Whereas in the world of talk radio no such intention exists.

As I'm mentioned more than once, I occasionally listen to talk radio. It's hard to avoid when you're on the road. I'm also mentioned my opinion that it's like a soap opera, you can come back one week, one month, or many months later, and the story hasn't changed.

Indeed.
This thread could have resulted in a truly epic flaming of Big, but matclone had to go and be the turd in the punch bowl.
