Depends on which Church you go to.

On a serious note, it is quite a wide open question. What is rich? How was the money made? What is done with the money? All important questions on a morality scale.

"The eye of a needle" is part of a phrase attributed to Jesus by the synoptic gospels:
...I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.Matthew 19:24. The parallel versions appear in Matthew 19:23-24, Mark 10:24-25 and Luke 18:24-25.
The occasion of the saying, according to the gospel writers, was after a rich young man had asked Jesus what he needed to do in order to inherit eternal life. Jesus replied that he should first, keep the commandments (he listed only the six concerning duty to men, see also Old Testament#Christian view of the Law), sell all his possessions, and give the money to the poor, and then to come, follow Jesus. Because of his great wealth, the young man was unwilling to do this. Jesus then turned to his disciples, and spoke this phrase to their astonishment, leading them to doubt that salvation was possible for anyone.
Some commentators have found it incredible to speak of a rich man's chance of being saved as being harder than threading a camel through a literal sewing implement. Consequently the phrase has inspired various interpretations.

And yet many people praise wealth as a staple of a man's status in society.

By the way, that line about selling possessions and giving to the poor justifies the death tax so to speak.

THe eye of the needle is a reference to a small opening to a city that was very difficult to fit through let alone take a Camel through and was a valid statement in the context of the time.

What Jesus was saying IMO and what the Bible relays is that when you become a Christian you are to rely on Christ and take pride in what is provided by God. If the Rich man is a believer it is because God has given him wealth not to make the man Rich but to help further Gods Kingdom on earth. King Solomon is said to be the richest man ever and he was a servant of God. Where I see the problem is excpecting God to make you Rich because you believe. THe Bible tells us not to store up earthly wealth because ours is in heaven, it also tells us to be charitable and take care of those less fortunate.

What a well thought out response.

That is a bunch of crap! God's Kingdom on Earth? Please come to your senses.

A rich man is a rich man and nobody thinks otherwise when he rides in his limousine to work.

Big this is not a discussion of whether or not you believe in God it is about what God thinks about wealth. But you are right I made a mistake by saying Gods Kingdom on earth because Gods kingdom is in Heaven. The statement still stands in that God raises up wealthy people to further the message of God and his people.

The fact is that most rich people pass on their wealth to their children and relatives. Few if any give up their wealth to the poor completely.

I don't see then how God or anything divine can be connected to it.
