I read between the lines and saw what he was saying.

Swayz is saying that your father-in-law is weak, therefore God is giving him money to make up for it. I say that is BS and that he got the money because of hard work and being smart with it.
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.

I see what you are saying, I believe that God gives people money who will use it to further the comintment of the Church and the individual has to his fellow man or woman.

    Ugly,

It's great that your father-in-law is so charitable, but my belief is that his business would continue to thrive even if he didn't support such worthy causes; or maybe he's so successful because he's the type of person who does these things.

There are plenty of similarly charitable people who just manage to eke out a living, yet they still contribute to the church. Perhaps they are even more deserving of God's financial blessing since they are less able to afford their charity, yet no such monetary blessing is forthcoming.

Spider I know what you are saying and it would make sense if I didnt look at it from a biblical view. We do what God calls us to do with what God gives us to do it (if that makes sense). We dont give to charity or to the church so that God will replenish our wealth but because he calls us to give. He does promise that whatever we give to him will be given back 10x over but that does not mean in a monetary sense. Eveyone who is faithful is blessed but not all in the same way. I think we have a great example of someone who is giving and faithfull but is not a man of means right hear on this board, and while we may think he deserves much more monetary blessing but he knows that what he is blessed with is greater than money or things and that is what God wants for him.

Spider you make a good point but try to see it from a perspective of faith. THere are without a doubt a number of non-religious millionaires and some are charitable and some are not it is the same in the community of faith. I believe that those who are faithfull with what they have are blessed more.

What I'm doing (and what I always do - it's my nature) is approaching the question analytically. I understand that in matters of faith there is no right or wrong and it is improper to scrutinize them like a scientist. That's why I've always said that science and religion can coexist because they are two different disciplines and one can't be judged by the other's standards. So if someone believes that God returns charity to the giver tenfold, who am I to dispute this - even though I don't believe it.

I have accomplished many great things that I would never even thought possible and I will keep accomplishing great things.

I URGE GOD TO STAY OUT OF MY WAY.

I don't believe that God gives people the ability to do great things, but I believe that the belief in God allows some people to tap into their abilities to the maximum.

Absolutely Spider! However, I absolutely believe that a person who gets to his maximum potential because of his pure will and determination is a much stronger person than the one who believes in a supreme being.
