Are the workings of primaries even covered in the constitution? I ask because i keep hearing all this blather from rightwing radio about making sure that votes are counted. But what laws could be broken? I don't think any because it's the political party's call.
Outsiders can judge the party by their process, but from an historical perspective, to rail against one-person-one-vote for a PRESIDENTIAL primary is ridiculous, IMO.
Conversely, on some local levels, primaries are covered by law, especially when they don't run separate primaries for the parties. Such an election also bears the name "primary" but is really a different animal. |
