| Is It Them Or Him? Looks like another Bush insider is trying to wipe their hands clean of the ensuing scandal and legal problems.
Either Clarke, Woodward, McClelland, Powell, Dean, etc etc are lying, or Bush is lying. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1107/6994.html

| Re: Is It Them Or Him? Although I'm sure there are elements of truth in all their accounts, and I'm not discounting any one in particular in the main, it's also true that they stand to make a lot of money from their books, especially now when no one, except maybe the talk radio and CEO crowd, has anything good to say about Bush. | | |

| Re: Is It Them Or Him? I'd say it's not such a black and white proposition. If you want to narrow the proposition, such as: "Bush mislead the public in his push for war with Iraq", I would fully agree, and the above mentioned authors and their books would probably support it to some degree. | | |

| Re: Is It Them Or Him? Precisely. Someone has been lying and someone (I suspect, "others") hasn't/haven't been.

| Re: Is It Them Or Him? Yes, they are all going to make millions from their books. The thing that gets me more than anything is that a guy like McClellan didn't have the balls to step down and oppose this crap when he found out about all this stuff he alledges.
Does or did anyone in that administration care about the constitution and the rule of law? History will judge these last 8 years very harshly. | | |

| Re: Is It Them Or Him? After watching McClellan on NBC's Today show, it seems that the media has te book all wrong. McClellan said that there were things in the White House he didn't like, but he didn't say that anyone lied with malice -- they didn't lie on purpose. McClellan sais that the point of the book was exposing the continuous campaign culture of Washington, not exposing abything about the Bush Administration.
Viera, who was interviewing McClellan, kept asking leading questions and tryign to say that Bush totally lied about Iraq, WMDs, etc. McClellan said that Bush didn't intentionally mislead anyone and that his administration was much more truthful than Clinton's (which Viera cringed at). At one point, McClellan told Viera that she was missing the point of the book -- the book was about the campaign culture in Washington, not an indictment of the president.
It seems as though the media has taken a couple of pages worth of the book and claimed that the entire book is that way, instead of understanding that the majority of teh book is NOT about the Bush White House, but is about the campaign culture of Washington.
If you're interested in the truth and not what some people say it is on a whim, like matclone very often claims, then you would reject nearly everything the media has said about the book. Its author certainly has. The liberal spin the media has put on this book is certainly unconscionable. | | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
