You miss the point. His was a very different relationship than that of McCain and Hagee.

Well, I will give you that; the relationship is different. For one, McCain was actually endorsed, while Obama wasn't. Second, McCain still associates with his bigots, while Obama doesn't associate with Wright.

As for the "black speak," actually, I'm mocking whites who fear blacks.

Thanks. I'll take that as a compliment.

Glad to also see you admit our collective fear of blacks. If it wasn't for the skin color, Wright would not be an issue.

Ban has asked several times (as have I in the past) and we see, Wright's critics don't really want to discuss what he said, warts and all, for that would make him more human and less evil. It is far more comfortable and easy to simply follow the angry white man in the suit who shouts words of condemnation over and over until we are ready to (metaphorically) burn him at the stake.

There are differences between Hagee and Wright in what they've said, and there are differences in their relationships with the presidential candidates. There is also a huge difference in how they are portrayed in the media. Wright has been a non-stop topic of discussion for months (based largely on a speech he gave 6 1/2 yrs ago)--particularly in right wing media which loves black men doing wrong stories--for they remind us of how we're supposed to resent people different than us. Hagee and his pronouncements won't get even a sliver of the same coverage in media.

Oh come on man. I listened to 1-full hour of JWright's so called sermon. It is the most vile hate speech I have ever heard save LFarr. When you listen to it in its entirety, it actually sounds a lot worse than the 1-minute segments you hear on TV. There is no need to actually talk about it; it is what it is.

No one has condemned him as the devil. He's just a anti-American bigot who lives in a castle up on the hill with the white people he condemns. Obama has condemned this guy with very strong language and has said that every American should be ashamed and offended for hearing it. Obama himself has said he doesn't endorse anything that he said in that sermon which is constantly being played.

I know nothing about the anti-Catholic Hagee who views the Catholic Church as the whore of Babylon.

The discussion of what Wright actually said is a legitimate topic but we just see the relationship issue very differently. ban, as I understand him, believes that the whole Wright fiasco is because Wright is black and that Hagee is given a pass because he is white. My point is simply that the relationship was never there between McCain and Hagee and THAT was the primary reason it hasn't been a huge story.

It would be foolish to suggest that there is no element of racism in this election but it is equally foolish to read racism into everything.

For the nth time, as I've noted, his critics don't want to discuss specifics, you just want to condemn him. I heard about 15 minutes of it, and as I've said before, understood perfectly well what he was saying. If you think that's a hate speech, I think you have a problem of perception.

I'm not sure that's exactly what Obama said. Nonetheless, he's obviously pandering to white voters, some who feel a little anxiety over the matter.

I was not ashamed nor offended by the speech, which is not constantly being played except maybe for the 20 second soundbite for those who'd rather fear than think.
