Many of them are fine with the government taking money from people, as long as it doesn't take money from themselves. In a "progressive" system, the government determines who is allowed to keep certain amounts of money, based on arbitrary amounts. In this case, the governmetn thinks that it knows what's best for you better than you do! Proponents of this type of system also overlook entrepreneurial ability. They like the class envy idea and think it is "fair" for those who have more to pay more. But, they don't see mto understand that if you make those who have more pay more, they end up having less, which translates into less money to hire employees, so there are fewer jobs and lower wages.
Those who really value equality will despise a "progressive" tax system. Only those with a class envy problem enjoy the "progressive" tax.

Pay poor people more for their services, reduce the profit for the rich and I am sure poor people will be happy to pay more taxes! | Fairness is totally subjective -- it changes for everybody! Besides, fiarness has never been promised. Only life, liberty, and property are promised to us in this country by law.

The current scale is very progressive; progressives love that word and the idea of making it a steeper curve yet. Buffet (with his big huge glasses) wants to pay even more taxes.
The bottom 50% already have a huge claim on my productivity and assets. But they want more and more. A larger and larger share of our representatives apparently hear the cry for more.

Steve Forbes ran on that idea back in the 90s and he couldn't get anywhere with it.
I'm not going to lie to you; I am worried about what the next president is going to do to my family. I already pay a crushing load under Bush, and I can only imagine what it will be under Obama.

For me (this year anyway), I'm mostly about food, energy, and taxes. That's mostly what I think about and talk about; most of my co-workers feel the same way...both liberal and conservative. That's where almost all of my money is going; that, and college savings for my kids. Food is increasing at levels we haven't seen in 20-years, energy costs have doubled in the last 12-months (including natural gas), and taxes are possibly set to explode in the next 10-years. They will most certainly go up in the first year of a Hillary or Obama presidency especially since there will likely be a complicit congress. All taxes must go up in the next 10-years as Medicare and SS begin to melt-down.
I am not a happy camper right now with our government. Throw all the bums out and start over.

You've finally come up with a plan I can get behind -toss em all and start over . Until we end fractionalized banking nothing will ever truly change . How did we allow this to come to pass ? If you have $10,000,000.00 you shouldn't be able to loan $100,000,000.00. But that is what we have and if you were making that type of money would you give it up?

I'm fine with that....300+ more to go 2-years later. When the senate is up, I would pray that both Harkin and Grassley from Iowa go bye-bye as well. Bubye....Bubye....Bubye. $300-billion farm bill....you gotta be kidding me. And these 30 and 40-year politicians.....why?
I don't know anything about fractionalized banking. I Googled the thing, and I had to crack another American non-hoppy beer after reading 2 or 3 web sites. Yikes.
