You constantly see words like "blasts" or "pounded" or "lashed out" when describing what Presidential candidates have to say to one another. Such drama, such theater!

Big, do you think you'll ever consider yourself an American? I don't say that in a mean way, but it just occurred to me that most of the posts you write view the United States from an outsider's position - like you don't consider it your nation, your community.

In this case I said American so as not to confuse it with, for example, Cuban media.

I prefer to not be named American or Russian or whatever but rather that I was born in Russia and now live in America.

The reason I say this is because with labels come expectations. As an American I am expected to hate communism and love capitalism for example. As a Russian I am expected to love to drink vodka.

Big is right. The press tends to sensationalize everything to make a story. It gets real old after you catch on.

Its worse than that. If its raining, that leads the news. If its real cold that leads the news. If its real hot that leads the news.

If it MIGHT snow (and even sometimes when it wont) there are dire predictions of "3-6 inches" and we end up getting nothing or a dusting at best.

And Lord knows if there are tornados ANYWHERE within the coverage area, goodby regular programing for hours even when the twisters are long gone and dissipated.

Even on a "slow weather" day the end result is 5 minutes of news, 10 minutes weather, 2-3 minutes (not kidding here, I timed it) of sports and 12-13 minutes of car and furniture commericals.
