About 4 in 10 of them said they would vote for John McCain, the likely Republican nominee. And nearly 1 in 4 said they wouldn’t vote at all.
In contrast, 7 in 10 of Obama supporters said they would back Mrs. Clinton against Mr. McCain in November. | I don't believe those numbers with hold up during the general election.
Sure Hillary has some feverent supporters who have been fighting against Obama for a while, so right now they can't see voting for him. But there will be a lot campaigning between now and November and though they might feel bitter now I do no think they will be voting for McCain. Obama has kept the campaign relatively clean and this should help the healing. I also don't think alot of the political activists will sit out the election. Politics and democracy is important to them and not voting goes against their nature.

None of these numbers are hidden from the Clinton Campaign. They know the math BETTER than all of us. They also know where the super delegates are going to fall. And its not their way.
So why are they still fighting like a tsmanian devil? And why are they hammering the gender issue? And why are they suggesting that Obama cant win?
It is because....they dont want him to win.
If he wins, she cant run again until 2016. She cant run against an incumbant Democrat President, no matter how unpopular. Ted Kennedy proved that in 1980. If she waits until 2016 she'll be 70 years old and she doesnt age well.
That leaves her only one option. To make sure Obama losses in '08 so she can run against McCain in '12.
Kerry was privately furious at the Clintons in 2004 for not doing more to help him win. She'll pay lip service to uniting the party after Obasma gets the nomination and her supporters will battle tooth and nail to get her on the ticket, but if its offered, which I doubt, she'll privately decline.
I used to think that Obasma would have to hire a food taster if he put Hillary on the ticket and I personally think his wife would never stand for it, but I'm starting to believe the old addage "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" applies here. It will be much harder for her to scuttle his campaign if she's tied to it. | This is a borderline conspiracy theory, but it makes some sense. If true all Clinton is doing is hurting herself however. Democrats will never forgive anyone who contributed to them not winning the Whitehouse in 2008.

Yesterday 687,000 Democratic ballots were cast as opposed to 183,000 Republican ballots. If it had been a three way general election, Mc Cain would have taken third.

And she's getting away with scuttling Obama now.

If Obasma is the cadidate, dont be surprized to see him loose Kentucky in the fall.

Do you believe that Bush had any influence upon, or had prior knowledge of, Hinckley shooting Reagan?
