One thing we need to do that I forgot to mention, is to take a look at NAFTA and the other so-called free trade treaties and proposals, since those are arguably a major cause of the migration. One thing that's happening is that U.S. subsidized corn is flooding the Mexican market and putting farmers there out of business. Other foreign policy has some effect as well.

My "intent" is stated in the original post. I had no intention, per se, just providing a vantage point on the link between anti-immigrant sentiment and the results of this sentiment.

If you legalize all that are here already whats to stop the next wave of people wanting to get their piece of amnesty? Do we not, as a nation of laws, have the right to determine who,what, and how many foreigners that we allow into this country? We allow well over a million people per year to become residents legally, that is a major city per year...when is enough?

-What's to stop them from wanting it or getting it? There is a big difference between people already here and people who may want to come here in the future.

-We do have that right, and we chose to allow a ton of people in. Now people want to throw them out to get a sense of revenge instead of looking at it from a practical perspective.
