Definition of "liberal" in modern parlance: "Someone who is opposed to me and all I stand for"

One who's picks up Goldberg's book "Bias" might notice the complete absence of citation.

One way to sell a book, or other media, is to figure out what your targeted audience wants to hear, and tell it to them.

I can't believe anyone would take anything Ann Coulter says legitimate or worthy of believing.

Here are some quotes from Ann Coulter-

To a disabled Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war."
    ~Ann Coulter~ on MSNBC

"I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote."
    ~Ann Coulter~ on Hannity & Colmes, 8/17/99

"I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote."
    ~Ann Coulter~ on Politically Incorrect, 2/26/01

"The presumption of innocence only means you don't go right to jail."
    ~Ann Coulter~ on Hannity & Colmes 8/24/01

    About the "swing voters"
"I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster. "
~Ann Coulter~ on Beyond the News, Fox News Channel, 6/4/00

"My libertarian friends are probably getting a little upset now but I think that's because they never appreciate the benefits of local fascism."
    ~Ann Coulter~ on MSNBC 2/8/97

We don't want someone who will get 98 percent of the vote. We want someone who will get 51 percent of the vote.
    ~Ann Coulter~

"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"
    ~Ann Coulter~ on Hannity & Colmes, 6/20/01

"[Canadians] better hope the United States does not roll over one night and crush them. They are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent." ~Ann Coulter~ on Fox News 30/11/04
If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for, at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them.

Isn't you signature quote pretty close to one of Coulter's quotes?

Your signature (Heinlein) - Take sides! Always take sides! You will sometimes be wrong- but the man who refuses to take sides must always be wrong! Heaven save us from poltroons who fear to make a choice.

Coulter - About the "swing voters"
"I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster. "

    No, not even close.

Heinlein was advocating for taking a side, one way or the other and Heaven help us from poltroons who won't. Poltroons are cowardly people. So he is saying help us from the people who are too afraid to make a choice.

Ann Coulter is not advocating for taking a side, she is saying anyone who doesn't take a side does so because they are too stupid to chose one side or the other.

The difference/contrast between the two quotes are even further notable in the context of the book that Heinlein is quoted from.

I agree with ccbig on this, but let me put it another way:

Robert Heinlein was a military officer, and it's his way of saying that one must be decisive.

Ann Coulter is a professional rabble-rouser, and her statement is just another attempt to stir emotion in her audience while framing the world as black and white (her whole schtick relies on a somewhat artificial confrontation between two points of view. Any complexity (represented by the swing voter) is to be loathed and despised, as is anyone who isn't one of us).
