"I am always amazed at the standard non-religious people want to hold religious people to."
While I didn't start this topic, I'll chime in for the sake of discussion. I realize that religious people are just like anyone else, with weaknesses and strengths . . . BUT . . . it's the "holier than thou" people who preach that they're right and everyone else is wrong that I hold to a higher standard because they claim to adhere to a higher standard. If you claim to be better than everyone else, you darn well better act like it. I know religious people who make themselves and the world a better place because of their faith, and I've seen (we've all seen it) terrible evil and injustice done in the name of religion; but as long as no one is telling me what I should do and how I should believe, or claiming superiority to me, I hold everyone to the same standard of basic courtesy and morality.
