No matter what your political views this makes for fascinating reading. It makes my military brat upbringing as ubelievably tame by comparison.

One observation from me..... dang, looking at this upbringing you can tell why his Pastors ramblings were not that big of a deal. This is a guy who was brought up in an environment that included almost everybody and everything. When you've heard almost everything you tend not to marginalize so much. And no wonder he seems to be pretty good at relating to diverse groups of people.... that was basically his birthright and upbringing.

Trying to label this guy as some sort of uppity anit-American militant ni.... uh, I mean African American, is going to be a hard sell.

I am intrigued by her work helping to start the Indonesian microbank. The microbank system is the most sucessful way of wiping out poverty. Her life story is quite the read. I would put her on the short list of amazing people that I would have liked to have met.
