Big, although different people from different places are likely to describe the concept of freedom in different ways, I think the core idea is basically the same. Before the U.S. was officially a nation, and a foreign power (Great Britain) was on our soil, with arms, we had this slogan, "Don't Tread on Me". 200 odd years later, I can figure out what that means, and I bet an Iraqi would understand it too.

The concept is also used as a tool of propaganda, e.g., "They hate our freedom" which is sheer nonsense, and, alternately, as you use it, as a rhetorical argument, e.g., "I want to be free to smoke my cigarettes when and where I like, even if others don't like it".

No. No one said that at all. But keep laughing if you'd like. It might improve your disposition.

Sometimes that happens when you take over that country's embassy and hold their diplomatic staff hostage for 444 days in violation of every minimal standard of diplomatic relations and then secretly fund terrorism throughout the world.

Sometimes people take your embassy's when you steal billions of dollars of oil, support tyrants, destroy democracy, blow airplane's out of the sky and then give the solder who did a medal.
Thats just before the embassy, after it you have supported and armed the tyrant Saddam Hussein. You gave him the power to attack Iran, with WMD's, biological and chemical weapons which resulted in 1 million dead Iranians including my uncle.

Not to mention trade embargo's which you try and force other countries to uphold, you create anti Iranian propaganda and now you are gunning to start war against Iran.

Iran has every reason to hate America.

We didnt STEAL any oil. We BOUGHT it. Sure the Shah was a tryant, Name one Iranian leader who hasnt been. Its impossible to support ANY Iranian leader without supporting a tryant. Sometimes you have to support the lesser of tyrants. While we did meddle in that one election, it was to keep the country from going Commie where there would be no further elections. That airplane thing happened AFTER the embassy takeover.

Sorry but your HATE AMERICA justifications are wholly without merit. And let me remind you that every single democratic governtment and even many that werent condemned that criminal act.

Your justification of it only further marginalized your already sorrid reputation.
