Penn later issued a statement apologizing for the meeting, calling it an “error in judgment.”
According to Justice Department filings, Colombia agreed last year to pay Burson-Marsteller $300,000 to help “educate members of the U.S. Congress and other audiences” about the trade deal and secure continued U.S. funding for the $5 billion anti-narcotics program Plan Colombia.

Just like you will vote for McCain, Clinton supporters will vote for Obama.

Just like you will vote for McCain, Clinton supporters will vote for Obama. | Nah! The GOP votes principle.
I recall how many of us democrats (speaking for myself) were ridiculed by hate radio and their traveling chorus for holding to the principle of "Anyone but Bush in 2004" and that we didn't care who was elected, as long as it wasn't Bush.
Looks like the chickens have come home to roost!

It would be a little less concerning to me if this was the only conflict of interest that this guy had. The fact is that he has actively sought business deals with many companies that are at odds with Clinton campaign rhetoric. Companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, U.S. Tuna Foundation (which has lobbied the EPA to downplay the increased levels of mercury in fish, while Clinton has publicly lambasted the EPA for doing the same), TXU, corp. (which builds coal-fired power plants), tobacco giant Altria Group, inc., and drug manufacturers Merck and Pfizer, etc.
All of this leads me to question how much of what she is saying on the campaign trail is pure lies simply to get elected. While behind closed doors she and her chief campaign stratagist (who was still a part of a major conference call about campaign strategy days after his resignation) have been in bed with the very corporations and industries that she claims to be fighting.
The whole thing is so dirty, it makes me wonder why no one is reporting on it in a meaningful way?

All the candidates get major contributions from big corporations, so it's no secret Clinton or any of the others have or may support some of their interests. She, for one, has a history of doing so (her vote for the bankruptcy bill comes to mind). That doesn't mean her campaign rhetoric in toto is a lie. These aren't necessary black and white issues. Also, I'm not sure why you attribute her aide's supposed misdeeds to her.

I didn't say that anything was a lie. I asked the question, "how much of what she is saying on the campaign trail is pure lies..." Please, don't change what I said or take what I said out of context in order to help your argument. I don't know what's true and what isn't, but when confronted with her multiple other lies and then this conflict of interest, it makes me wonder if she really stands for any of the things she's running on.
I'm am questioning her motives and honesty because it wasn't until the media made a big stink about Penn's deal with Columbia that he resigned. The dealings he's been having with Merck, Pfizer, and the others have been going on for over a year and she did nothing about the conflict of interest.

For the most part this a a civil community and speaking for myself I would like to see it stay that way.
