If most soldiers re-enlist because they are so moral then how come the military has raised re-enlistment bonus by 3 times in the past 5 years? Why spend all the money if people are just pouring in?
Listen man, i am not saying that some soldiers don't re-enlist or join just for the money. I was just talking about the soldiers that I personally know.
You know what FWIW this debate is worthless. Some people thrive on finding one reason for some action in order to mask another reason. Its human nature.
The day I will believe you Chance is when American people join to fight for NO MONEY!
As Flop said, it could be a combination of both, or for any of a number of other reasons. Big, you're just trying to be provocative when you say money is THE reason people enlist. People are a lot more complicated than that (except maybe in the la la world of talk radio).
Like I said, the day Americans turn down the money and fight for free is the day i will accept the fact that money MIGHT NOT BE THE MAIN REASON.
Most of the people that join are poor people even if college grads. They need the money. Similar to miners in West Virginia.
