    Default Sanctions against America

Should the world declare sanctions against America. Once again America is at the forefront of military crime. They were the first to drop nuclear bombs on real people and now they plan on militarising space under the guise of saving the world.
I see this as a real threat to world peace and i think the world needs to show America that the illegal wars, militarisation of space and war crimes wont be accepted.
Although it seems in this world might is right and people have no guts.

    US 'confident' over satellite hit

The US is confident that its shooting down of a disabled spy satellite with a missile managed to destroy its potentially toxic fuel tank.
Marine Gen James Cartwright said there was a 80-90% chance that the satellite's tank had been destroyed.

A fire ball, vapour cloud and spectral analysis indicating the presence of hydrazine all indicated that the tank had been hit, he told reporters.

The operation has been criticised by China and Russia.

"We're very confident that we hit the satellite," Gen Cartwright said at a Pentagon briefing hours after the missile was fired.

"We also have a high degree of confidence that we got the tank."

Caspian, were you as upset when China shot down one of their satellites without telling the entire world that they were going to do so?

I assume that you weren't quite so in a froth.

That makes about as much sense as the sanctions against Cuba.

Militarizing space has been done since the 50s by every nation who could rocket something into our outer atmosphere. Do you honestly think that Russia's main goal was simply to get to the Moon? A Nation doesn't spend billions of dollars simply to say, "We did it, we did it" ... it has to add some type of value to their country.

Ugly i am not anti-American i think its logical to dislike things you disagree with.

mat clone, how about sanctions against Iran, America is worried about pretend Nuclear bombs that aren't even being developed but they are trying to get international sanctions.

Frankly i find this much more worrying.

Flop i never read this in the news, have you got a source.

schlottke you can;t compare sending a man to space as the same as firing rockets into space.

On another related note, its pretty impressive that these sort of things can be achieved, it must have taken some interesting calcs to work this out.

No medical doctor could do it.

Not as much math as it would seem.. they didn't have a heat trail (as far as I know), but they did have a pretty basic trajectory set already established. So, since they already knew it was running a set speed (estimated at 17,000 mph- the Navy knew the exact speed) its not really as hard as the media tried to make it sound.

(which is also why nobody expected it to have a chance of ever missing..)

I would not ove simplify the calculations. At those speeds and distances nad the percision that is required, minor factors, like the rotation of the earth must be accounted for. I would like their was a software routine written to do this, but it does not make the technology any less impressive.
