Default Super-rich Russians descend on tony Colorado resorts

Here's a story that might be of interest to you, Big. Apparently, there are now like a 100,000 millionaires in Russia when there were none only a few years ago. Must be all that hard work, eh?

As for the towns in question, Aspen and Vail--no one of modest means can afford to live there. I mean, there is no real estate for under a million dollars.
Again, all that hard work coming to fruition, I guess.

Yes, basically the celebration of communism's fall and capitalism's rise made 100,000 Russians better off and 170 million worse off. Nice job!

    Nice contrast in numbers.

The market is only a reflection of its members. If one wants to be successful, all he needs to do is follow the example those before him laid.

Wow. Maybe there's a silver lining to our dollar tanking. Not that tourism could make up for the millions of manufacturing jobs we've lost, but hey... green is green.

Ha. I can see it now. After all the jobs have been shipped overseas, we'll still have tourism. The service industry will dominate, and we can all practice smiling and fawning as new 21st century creatures emerge such as the "ugly" Russian, or the "ugly" Frenchman. They come rolling into our towns with all their "green" and we jump for joy.

And maybe the wealthy Chinese manufacturers will come to Colorado for the clean air, having mucked up their own.

There is human dignity besides the color green Bonnie. You can create millions of jobs but I doubt it is a good thing when American engineers for example are carrying skiing equipment for foreign tourists as their main job.

I have a book that I've been trying to read for awhile. I think I'll do it after the wrestling season is over this year. It's called "An Embarrassment of Riches" by Simon Shama, and it's about the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th Century and the downfall from the time of shipping trade riches. It seems like there are a lot of parallels.
