Default Is gun ownership legal in Florida?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- At least six people were shot Tuesday in a neighborhood near downtown, police said. None of the injuries were considered life threatening, police spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said.

It was not immediately known whether the gunman was at large or among the victims.

The shooting occurred in the Talleyrand area near Jacksonville Memorial Stadium.

Florida is one of many states that does not require a permit to purchase a handgun. Matter of fact, a background check isn't even required if you are purchasing from another individual or a gun collector.

Like many other states, there is a bill in the legislature that will allow employees to bring concealed weapons into the workplace and the employer can't stop it.
