I mean let the woman do her talking. I realize slick willy is quite a smooth talker and all but he is not the one running for President. Its really terrible how Bill is all over her campaign protecting her and stuff.

Does anyone else think this way?

I think his involvement is critical in her chances of getting the Dem. nod..

Yo Big, every candidate's spouse speaks on their behalf. You're just another sucker for the media who reports everything about him almost up to and including whenever he takes a crap.

Quit reading too much and turn off the "news" channels.

I agree with what Password says.

As for the incessant coverage of Bill Clinton, think of it this way: the major media sources are actively selling you and I, and their advertisers, a product. They call it news but it's wrapped in a package designed to get your attention, even if what's inside the package is, shall we say, less than substantive. Based on the marketing principle of brand identification, they will almost always emphasize in their coverage known figures over the less known, and Bill Clinton is very well known. We see the same thing in sports coverage: the networks will talk to death about T.O., Tom Brady, Tiger, A-Rod, Barry etc. etc. etc.--see I don't even have to give you their full name and you know.

    Also, don't forget Hollywood.

It's pathetic how often they have "news" about the "stars" who have self-destructed.

The sad thing is that the US has become one big People Magazine customer.

Oh, and don't forget all the white blonde girls who go missing, or are murdered. All this crap makes me want to chuck lunch.

I don't agree that the recent criticism of Clinton is a media creation. Yes, there are certain members of the media who will criticize anything BC or HRC does, and there are just as many on the other side of the fence who will excuse Clinton for anything he's ever done.

B Clinton has been actively involved in stumping for his wife, speaking out against the other candidates, criticizing them and their policies, and playing the race card in South Carolina. William Grieder (The Nation), Frank Rich (NY Times) and others have spoken out against what B Clinton has done recently. There are a number of democrat politicians who have done the same. I don't agree that this is some sort of media creation.

Wouldn't it seem odd for George H.W. Bush to pointedly criticize democrat candidates? It's not the place of a former President to do such things.

As Password pointed out, all the spouses are stumping for their spouse candidate.

If Barbara Bush was running for president in a heated battle you're damn straight he would be speaking out.

I do believe that Bill has indeed hurt his wife...as he has in the past personally. However, the media is all about selling their message and being first. They don't really cover news anymore.

I agree with your second paragraph, but not entirely with your first.

Usually when a candidate's spouse "stumps", they talk about the great things that their husband can and will do for the country. It's a positive message about their spouse, not so much a negative message about the other candidate.

I'm surprised that HRC hasn't told Bill to go have a cigar and be quiet by now. He's made his point, and it's becoming distracting to her (their) campaign (IMO).
