It was a classic trick in the book. American people will keep getting duped because most are ignorant.

Here is what happened. American military brought extra soldiers to Iraq. At the same time a major deal was brokered with enemy sunnis by giving them lots of money and weapons if they turn on Al Qaeda.

Before, this was out of the question. Now, basically thousands of fighters are on US side FOR NOW. That is why violence is down. The troops did it? Yeah right! This was just a trick to make it look like American military needs to stay in Iraq in large numbers.

Well my point was the surge itself played a minor part in the current reduction of violence.

My second point is that those Sunni fighters Americans are supporting are no saints. They are no different than Bin Laden. Right now they are getting stronger and will turn on Americans again eventually or on the Shiites.
