We all know. But if we can't get beyond left v. right, then more complex matters (for example: who pushed for war? how was the push carried out? was it justified? how did it affect int'l relations? what was the reaction of the American people?) aren't even on the radar.

I usually try modify my level of discourse to be consistent with the original post (or follow up posts). If someone is a knee-jerk lefty and makes silly broad statement, then I'm not going to waste my time and write a five paragraph treatise on why I believe they are incorrect.
