    Default Potentially habitable planet found

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070425/...table_planet_8

WASHINGTON - For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for "life in the universe."

It's a long shot, but what if life was actualy found on other planets? Doesn't even have to be intelligent life. Amoebas, insects, plant life, little fish. What would that say about Intelligent Design, the Bible, God, etc.?

Before you book your extrastellar flight to 581 c, a few caveats about how alien that world probably is: Anyone sitting on the planet would get heavier quickly, and birthdays would add up fast since it orbits its star every 13 days.

Crap.... there always has to be somebody to rain on the parade!

I have no doubt there is life on other planets. The Earth to Universe is like a speck on the Cancun beach. There has to be something on at least some planets.

I am pretty sure they will be found in our lifetime, unless of course religious freaks and Bush-like Presidents keep spoiling the show.

I wish we spent even 1/10 on space programs as we do on wars instead of thinking of Heavens.

...or...... would it just mean God has far greater reach than originally expected.

....or.......since there are two vastly independent environments forstering the formation of life, it is obviously is evidence of planned creation, there is no chance for coincidental development of life.

    I couldn't agree more.

Gravity is 1.6 times as strong as Earth's so a 150-pound person would feel like 240 pounds.

You can go hang out there for a few months and feel like a superman when back on Earth.

When that shuttle malfunctioned and a few astronauts died, it was considered to almost end the program. How pathetic when dozens of people die everyday in Iraq and elsewhere.
