One of the pundits was saying last night that the Republican party has long been a marriage between the economic conservatives and the social conservatives, the former tossing the latter a bone once in a while (my phrase) to keep them happy. The Bush Administration is a great example. All the time he's talked about faith, he's actually been faithfully following the economic conservative agenda at every turn. Huckabee is challenging this marriage (even if he probably doesn't believe in divorce), and people are responding to it.
Huckabee was a very economically conservative governor in Arkansas. Don't forgetthat his home state is home to Tyson Foods, JB Hunt Transport, and Wal-Mart. Huckabee supported tax incentives for each of those and for other Arkansas companies. He was a very socially conservative man as well. You can see that in his deep religious conviction. I don't see him challenging that marriage at all. In his years as Arkansas governor, he upheld that a governor could be both economically and socially conservative, yet still run a successful administration.
I think there has been a lot of misinformation being spread about his record. he really does have a better record than Clinton did. he cut taxes where he could, he raised them in relevant areas (gas tax to pay for highways) and lowered the debt by 800 million. I think he is one of the more fiscally responsible guys out there, at least with a track record to show for it.
I am looking forward to his explanations for why he commuted 10 convicted murderers. I am sure that he has a good reason, otherwise why would he commit political suicide for no reason.
I was in the undecided group to start. For me it was Obama, Edwards or Dodd. Dodd had no one. 1st count(approx.) Biden 6,Richardson 12,Clinton,Obama and Edwards high 20's. After 2nd count Edwards 41 Clinton over 34 and Obama 33. I went to Obama's group to make sure he had 34 for at least as many delegates(2 you needed 17(15%) per delegate) as Clinton. My ? to the Obama supporters was why did he vote for the trade pact with Peru? Never did get an answer. In our caucus 2 each fo Obama, Clinton, Edwards. If it had been a straight vote like the repubs it would have been between Edwards and Obama
No William Krystal is widely respected(because Jimmi told me), I asked the Edwards people 2 ? and Richardson 1
Will the real Obama come forward: http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.php?storyID=6436 OR http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/Obama.../07/62285.html
