But all that would not have come to be without Jesus.
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.

Big, are you really a fan of Stalin? You would have rather lived under his leadership of intimidiation? I have heard horrible stories of atrocities to his own people to instill fear for his power.

Are you saying it was Kruschev who failed the USSR by abonding much of Stalins principles?

He created camps for people to work for almost nothing in order to sustain the economy (collectivism).

He was a great military leader, but not sure he benefitted his countryman that much more than that.

I am not a fan of Stalin but I acknowledge what he did. I try to be as impartial as I can. The fact is Soviet Union became a major power under him. Also, the fact is many people died resisting his regime. That is the way it was.

But you know those people that died, especially wealthy peasants in Ukraine were no more Stalin's people than Native Americans that died in America were people of George Washington. Stalin was Georgian and he did not care what happened to Ukrainians that resisted his socialist experiment.

Everything has to be put in perspective!

In the end, what failed was Soviet people losing track of what was important in their lives. They took communist benefits for granted and wanted more and they thought they wanted Western goods. They did not realize however at what cost. Many are now disillusioned with what hapopened though.

Wasn't much of the capital being misappropriated for weapons to try and win the cold war. I thought they were bankrupting themselves and had no choice but to find another spark for the economy since the central government could not sustain everything.

That added to the problems but the truth is Soviet people slacked off instead of working harder to win the Cold War or to bring it to a stalemate. The new generation that did not experience WWII and tough times was spoiled and got duped by the West that Western life is so much better. Materialistically it was better but many other factors were worse.

Its like the saying goes the grass is always greener on the other side and the West won the propaganda war.

Big, I don't mean this to be a smart-ass comment, but are you saying you believe in hell?

I have to admit, I don't normally read the "Politics and Religion" threads, because I try to have the "to each his own" mentality, so I've been a little shocked Big... nonetheless, I hope you had a Happy 25th of December (and a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays to everyone else!)

    Dear Elisa,

It was a joke to make a point that I don't take the heaven/hell dogma seriously. Happy New Year!
