Default Bush's answer how he would feel if his daughter were the Saudi rape victim

A Saudi woman was raped in Saudi Arabia and then ordered to receive 200 lashes and 6 onths in jail by Saudi court. Bush was asked how he would feel if this happened to his daughter. CNN showed that Bush paused and stuttered for like 20 seconds. Then he quietly mumbled that he would be very emotional and angry at the State.

This is it from your Democracy, human rights and freedom loving leader.

Doesn't Bush do this any time he's forced to think and speak at the same time? I can't remember the last time I heard him put together a fluent sentence that wasn't written down for him by a speech writer.

The mumble part is because he didn't have someone next to him whispering in his ear what to say.

As Rick James would say, "Cocaine is a hell of a drug...."

It wasn't really a fair question, though. It seems it was designed to make him falter.

Why couldn't Bush quickly respond he would be outraged that he lives in a country with such backward and ridiculous regime? Say this was asked of him about Iraq under Hussein or about Iran. He would do just that.

Show me a question that didn't have to do with Iraq, 9/11, or Osama that hasn't made him falter in the last 5 years?

It was a simple question that he should have been able to answer with only a short pause.

It's depressing. For some reason, this reminded me of the Michael Dukakis issue from 20-years ago. I believe he was asked if he would favor the death penalty if somebody raped and murdered his wife. He responded 'no' basically.

This is agonizing to me as politicians don't know how to answer a simple question using their human side. As the father of a 17-year high school girl, I feel somewhat fearful that I wouldn't be able to control my unfathomable rage and it may show up on the steps of some court house in the form of an assault rifle aimed at the murderer. I pray *DAILY* for the physical and spiritual safety of all of my kids. As a parent, my greatest fear is losing one of them and there are no guarantees how I would respond. Why can't a President show his human side and respond the same way. That's what people want out of a leader -- show some fire in your belly and stop acting like a politician. People hate politicans. Am I wrong here?

Avallone,

I see that your favorite team is OSU. I've seen some good OSU vs. ISU meets over the years. One meet in particular that I remember was when Pat Smith actually lost a match to Steve Hamilton (early 90s??). I think OSU won the match, but I was stunned to see Hamilton beat Smith. Am I thinking correctly, or is it the 2 Sam Adam's in me clouding my memory? Hamilton was an excellent wrestler, but I didn't give him any chance of beating Smith.

Please let me know if this is correct. Thanks.
