Default Iowa court scores one for the non-believers

This religious practice sprang up far and wide under Bush and all we hear is: "There is a war on christmas". Enough of tax payers money going to Christian fanatics!

DES MOINES, Iowa - A federal appeals court ruled Monday that the state of Iowa cannot fund an evangelical Christian prison ministry program because doing so advances or endorses religion, violating the Constitutional separation of church and state.

Small points: (1) It was the 8th circuit (consisting of many states in the Midwest) court of appeals that ruled, upholding a prior decision of an Iowa judge. The court is actually located in St. Lous. (2) The decision wasn't for non-believers. It stood for the idea that the state (which consists of both believers and non-believers) cannot establish a religion.

Certainly there are many believers that would like to have a state religion or at least some form of it since we already have government money going to religious organizations in many instances. This decision was against their wishes.

There are two types of believers: the ones who realize that they are only believers and the ones who claim to be knowers.
