I have this image of Billy Preston in the background, swaying behind the organ and singing: "That's the way--God planned it. That's the way--God wants it to be".

I often wondered why he was on the golf course instead of in church. Besides that, Southern Hills is one of the nicest and most expensive clubs in the country. They also hosted the PGA Championship last August (Richard was nice enough to let those of us who volunteered with the grounds crew to stay at ORU for the week). Anyhow, I guess he didn't take the vow of poverty that most preachers I know took. I wonder if God insisted he step down because he was screwing things up.

Jesus and started acting insane. After that, they didn't give him a cent. I can't say that I fault them on that one.

I'm pretty sure that he lives in California now, so he's not really that close to Tulsa. I have never gotten to know Richard Roberts personally, I just shook his hand and said Hi to him on the golf course once. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but the recent news tells us that something fishy was going on.
