Spider thanks for helping me out with Big.

Big I have always said that as a Christian we have to read the Bible and interpret i the best we can. We need to keep it in context and understand the times in which the Bible was written. Do I believe in the Bible literally? Yes. But it is not a blind belief, there are parts of the bible that are anecdotal, literal and I recognise that. The bible says do not try to remove the spec of dust in your brothers eye when you have a plank in your own. I dont literally think it means I have a plank in my eye. No where in the Bible that I believe in was there any justification for the crusades. But as Christians we are victim to all things human and we are greedy, lustful, prideful and we will do things that reflect our selfishness and we will use a false justification in the Bible to fulfill those wants.

Again let me be clear. I do not believe that Christians or any religious people have a moral superiority over anyone. I simply believe that without religion morality is a crap shoot

Many of our laws, including Democracy, came from or were practiced by the Greeks who lived BEFORE the bible was written.

In any case, Religion was made up by people because the justice system was not developed. There was no police force for example. People lived in small villages apart from the main authority. In other words, the same people that made up religion are now called Justices, judges and attorney generals.

The image of "God" was necessary to make people fear the law without the actual "policing of it"..
