Big, NAFTA was intended to deliver jobs in Mexico and it has, but no where near enough. Don't you think Mexicans would stay at home if there was enough work that paid a wage close to what they can send home from the US? The same goes for similar situations in other countries. They send money to keep the families from starving, etc., They can make more money here working the lower tier jobs than what they can make back in Mexico. Those that make an effort to learn the language do far better than those that don't.

It is clear they see opportunity here, the same opportunity your mother and father saw in coming to the US, the same opportunity every other immigrant saw coming here in the 1800's, 1900's and now 2000's. Do all of them succeed, no, but they're offspring faired far better. Even back then, immigrants were mailing money back home to support the family and eventually funding their immgration here to the US.
