Default It is Time to Jump.....

....back into the stock market. I'm seeing indications we've bottomed out, in the bottom was a couple of weeks ago. The market is up 20% since the low 6200. I'm hearing prediction the recession will start to lighten up over the summer, employment will rise by year end.

We were 8 months from the collapse when I jumped out. I think I'm about ready to jump back in. What do you think?

Like my previous concern with commercial real estate I'm still hesitant to jump back in. If we're starting to see a commercial real estate collapse as a result of lost earnings on the retail front it could get a whole lot uglier. My main issue is that tech stocks (where I'm most comfortable.) are still so volatile (Google = risk of loss in advertising, Apple = risk of losing CEO to illness.. add to that a failing economy)

I see the market solidifying and feel some of these would be great deals right now, but I have a feeling that this is a delay before another drop. Remember- this rebound started with a memo from the CEO of Citi saying they'd be profitable this quarter. I did buy citi at 1.02, so that paid off, but its still such a risk I wouldn't put any long term money in right now.

I personally will wait until after quarterly earnings reports in April because they will show a lot about how the next 9 months will play out... hopefully.

I would agree that by the time we find out that we have bottomed in the real estate market, it will have passed by us by a few months. You will never know when you are there. In fact, I know first hand that when the home sale numbers for March out it will be even greater than February. Great news imo.

As for the stock market itself, I don't know. Our government is being surprisingly incompetent. I feel like everytime it looks good for the market, the government will announce more government expansion to threaten capitalism. And wall street will panic again.

Could be a suckers rally, I'm with Schlottke on this, I don't think we've seen the commercial real estate crisis hit yet. I see lots of vacant space for rent/sale as I drive around.
